Seventeen-year-old Max was born Tainted, or rather, cursed by the fallen angels who won the war. Thanks to a holy angel (one of the good guys), she is still herself even though she has long passed the third stage of the curse: a descent into murderous madness. But Max and her fellow Anti-Fallen Party (AFP) members, including her father, are waiting for the day they’ll have to put a bullet in her head.
 Max is determined to survive, if only to spite everyone else. So, when the Fallen start eradicating AFP units at an alarming rate, she sees a rare opportunity. She can prove just how valuable she is by infiltrating Fallen territory and acquiring a holy angel’s corpse. It’s the key ingredient in the AFP’s main defense against their enemies. But while there, Max learns a shocking truth: some AFP members are conspiring with the Fallen.
